Symptom

Download failed -
> HTTP error 500 (Can't connect to server.rptn.ca:443 (certificate
> verify failed)) downloading /var/spool/MD-Bayes/rptndb.bz2

Remediation

This error means that this server is having trouble fetching the RPTN Bayes data. The error reported is "certificate verify failed".

This often means that there is a web proxy which is intercepting the HTTPS traffic. Please disable or bypass any proxies -- CanIt needs to communicate directly with the server to fetch its updates.

Sometimes this error can happen if there are network issues. If a network problem occurs during the part of the transaction where the certificate is transmitted, the certificate might be corrupted or incompletely transmitted and thus it appears as a certificate problem when it is actually a network problem.
