CanIt 7.0.8 Anti-Spam Software Released

Roaring Penguin Software upgrade includes support for Domain Key Identified Mail (DKIM) and Vouch By Reference (VBR)

1. CanIt now has built-in support for DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail). DKIM is a method for senders to securely indicate the domain which takes responsibility for an email message. DKIM can prevent attackers from forging the source domain of their messages. CanIt users who choose to use DKIM to validate the origin of a message can use information about the signer as an additional measure to limit spam, spoofing, phishing, or other undesirable behavior.

Roaring Penguin Software submits Internet-Draft for IP Reputation structure to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – Roaring Penguin Software Inc., the email filtering experts, makers of the acclaimed CanIt line of anti-spam solutions, today announced that they have submitted an internet draft to the Internet Engineering Task Force. Several organizations (Project Honeypot, Spamhaus, RepuScore, etc.) maintain databases detailing the reputation of various IP addresses. These organizations use various ad hoc methods to collect the reputation data. There is no standard for reporting events to reputation-collectors; this makes it hard to instrument a large number of systems to be data gatherers in a standard way.

Roaring Penguin Software announces DNS Based IPv6 reputation list

Leading anti-spam vendor makes IPv6 reputation list available to Universities and ISPs running IPv6 based mail servers

Roaring Penguin offers a DNS-based IPv6 Reputation List to qualified institutions running IPv6 based mail servers. As IPv6 adoption increases, inevitably spammers will begin transmitting spam via IPv6. Roaring Penguin's anti-spam products have been IPv6-ready since August 2009 and have been collecting IPv6 reputation data for many months. The re-introduction of Bill C-27, "The Electronic Commerce Protection Act" is a major step forward in spam fighting in Canada.
