CanIt 7.0.6 Anti-Spam Software Released
Roaring Penguin Software upgrades their CanIt line of anti-spam software for ISPs, Web Hosts, Universities, and Managed Services Providers.
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – The fight against spam got a little bit easier as Roaring Penguin Software Inc., makers of the acclaimed CanIt-PRO, CanIt-Domain-PRO and Hosted CanIt anti-spam software solutions, announced the release of CanIt 7.0.6
Major new features in CanIt 7.0.6:
1. Direct Injection of Messages into Sendmail Queue
CanIt can directly inject streamed mail into the Sendmail Queue rather than remail it with Sendmail. This should significantly improve performance in busy sites that have individual streams for each user.
In the past, if a message came in for multiple recipients with different anti-spam settings, CanIt would remail new copies for each different group of settings and discard the original message. CanIt would then scan each copy according to the applicable group of settings. CanIt used Sendmail to remail the message.
Invoking Sendmail is fairly expensive and involves a lot of disk I/O for each remailed copy. The new code directly injects messages into Sendmail's queue. This reduces disk I/O because CanIt flushes the data out to disk at the end of all of the copies instead of after each copy.
2. New Web Interface Code
CanIt 7.0.6 introduces the web code that will allow the creation of a new easy-to-theme web interface that will eventually replace the web code for the existing interface. The new interface code can be run concurrently with the existing interface code.
CanIt 7.0.6 is available as:
CanIt-PRO, an anti-spam / anti-virus appliance or a soft appliance.
CanIt-Domain-PRO, a version allowing MSPs to host anti-spam for their customers.
Hosted CanIt, a hosted spam filtering service.
