CanIt 6.0 Anti-Spam Software Released

Roaring Penguin Software upgrades their CanIt line of anti-spam software to provide Managed Services Providers effective and affordable anti-spam, and anti-virus solutions for small and medium-sized organizations.

The fight against spam just got easier as Roaring Penguin Software Inc., makers of the acclaimed CanIt-PRO, CanIt-SPE and Hosted CanIt anti-spam solutions, announced the release of CanIt 6.0.

Major new features in CanIt 6.0:

1) Anti-Phishing:

CanIt 6.0 will feature two new anti-phishing technologies. The first is a heuristic that recognizes many kinds of directed phishing attacks (also called "spear-phishing") and adds points to hold or reject them.

The second anti-phishing technology uses a real-time updated list of phishing addresses compiled by university email administrators all over the world. Not only will CanIt block emails coming from those addresses, but (if used with outbound scanning) it will also block return emails to those addresses. This helps prevent sensitive information from leaking back to phishers even if the original phishing email somehow made it in.

2) Joe-Job Protection:

A "joe-job" attack is one in which a spammer forges email to come from your domain, which then suffers a huge onslaught of delivery failure notifications. CanIt 6.0 will let you enable emergency joe-job protection on a per-domain basis; for a limited time, it will reject all delivery failure notifications. This lets you cope with the load during the attack.

3) Programmable .PDF reports:

Let your customers know how much aggravation you are saving them by sending them daily, weekly, monthly reports on the effectiveness of CanIt.
